5 Essential Strategies for Sustainable Business Growth
”Iulia, but how do I grow my business? How do I attract more customers?”
You know that saying, “The universe only gives you so much?” Replace the universe with God, a higher power, Buddha, Allah, or whatever you believe in. The idea of growing a business is not just about the number of customers. I work with an entrepreneur who has two customers, and she tells me that’s too many. And I believe her. Because the way she was working was very difficult to manage.
I often come across the idea that revenue increases with more sales to new customers. But I’m here to tell you about other perspectives.
Adoption of new technologies
Technology will continue to play a major role in business growth. I, for one, can no longer live without process automation. Early in my career, I worked for an entrepreneur who was afraid to make such investments. I saw how difficult it was for him to grow his business. And I told myself that this is a lesson in NOT SO.
Also, consider integrating social media into your marketing and technology tools in this direction. Because this combination helps you serve your customers simply, quickly, and easily.
Improving customer experience
What I want to emphasize here is that you can have the best psoriasis cream. That heals perfectly and smells good; it is an exceptional product. If you promote it and the customer waits 3 months to receive it after ordering it, believe me, you will have few customers.
Today, you need to offer your customers an unforgettable experience. Remember that there is competition in the market. And no, take my word for it, today there is no such thing as not having competition. Rather, you don’t know it.
Excellent service is essential for customer loyalty and business growth.
Invest in training your support team, delivery (if you have physical products), SLA (for services), and make sure that every interaction with customers is positive.
Use customer feedback to improve your products and services. Also, consider implementing loyalty and rewards programs to encourage customers to come back.
WARNING! Don’t take on more clients just to increase your numbers without having the capacity to deliver. You’ll only damage your reputation because you’ll start delivering lower quality. Diversifying the product or service offering
To attract new customers and satisfy the needs of existing ones, consider diversifying your offering.
Conduct market research to identify unmet customer needs. Develop new products or services to meet them. Diversification can include expanding your product range, launching complementary services, or even exploring new markets.
For example, if you are active in e-commerce and sell physical products, you can offer consulting to other entrepreneurs who want to or are already in this industry. Or you can sell courses on product positioning. And you can learn more about how to cross-sell or up-sell.
Look for partnerships with complementary products or services
It is a method that I learned from both Turkish traders and the Dutch company I worked for. What the Dutch do (who historically are called the best traders) is to enter into strategic partnerships.
For example, if they need to import a certain product from China, they search the market (further from their sales area) to see who else sells that product. They conclude a collaboration and place a larger order together.
The good parts here are that they get a better price because they negotiate on a larger quantity, the transportation costs are shared, and the risks are automatically shared. And each one activates their own piece of the market. I know that in Romania we are more reluctant to such practices, but it is worth trying.
Maybe your margin will be lower than your partner’s, but it will still be a plus in sales. And, above all, your client will remember that he can find those products at your place, and he will not have to look any further. That’s a win!
International market expansion
Sounds great, right?
Expanding into international markets can offer significant growth opportunities. Conduct a detailed analysis of international markets that may be relevant to your business and develop a market entry strategy.
Consider partnering with local distributors, adapting products and services to local cultural and linguistic preferences, and utilizing international marketing channels.
When conducting such an analysis, consult with a local expert and a lawyer who knows the laws in the country where you want to operate. This way, you will be aware of the legislation, the taxes you have to pay, the financial risks, as well as what types of marketing channels you can use.
In Saudi Arabia, for example, X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok are used very often. Facebook is used very little to none. It is important to do your homework well so that you don’t find yourself throwing money and time out the window later.
Growing your business in 2024 requires a combination of innovation, adaptability, and customer focus.
Each of the strategies outlined above can help strengthen and expand your business, giving you the competitive advantage you need to thrive in 2024.
I hope this information is helpful so you can grow simple, fast, and easy.
